作家自身が監修し、サインやエディション番号を直筆で書き加え作品価値を高めた、顔料インク印刷の限定版画作品。原画の筆致や素材感まで再現し、耐光性や耐水性に優れ100年以上保存可能とされています。
◉What is a Giclee Print?
Giclee prints are limited edition pigment ink prints supervised by the artist himself, with signatures and edition numbers handwritten to enhance the artwork's value. They reproduce the brushstrokes and texture of the original, and are highly light- and water-resistant, ensuring a preservation period of over 100 years.
日本の伝統絵画を現代に転生させるという「ネオ日本画」のコンセプトを体現した初期の代表作です。1997年から2015年（2015年作の18号機に加筆中。2021年5月現在）まで制作され、日本の古典を現代的な解釈で換骨奪胎する後のJ-artの流れを決定づけました。伊達男たちが騎乗する傾いた意匠のメカたちは、その後の天明屋作品に登場する神獣や「当世甲冑三十六選」シリーズなどにつながる重要なモチーフとなっています。シリーズ制作された14作品を一枚の版画として一枚仕立てにした特別仕様です。天明屋自身、「シリーズものは本来、単体で観るより、すべて合わせて観るものとして制作している」と語るように、シリーズものを一枚仕立ての版画とすることで本来の作家の意図を忠実に反映した趣向となっています。
